Aaron Rosand Plays Violin Romances & Heifetz Transcriptions Feature

This release is a coupling of two remarkable albums that have not been available for some ten years. Aaron Rosand is most famous for his inimitable authority and style in the Romantic Repertoire of the Violin.

One disc covers all of the greatest short pieces by Romantic composers Bruch, Kreisler, Sibelius, Dvorak, Liszt, Sinding, Vieuxtemps, Wieniawski, Clara Schumann, Svendsen, Nielsen and Janacek. These are all major masterpieces by minor composers who reached their highest achievements in these pieces.

The second disc is a brilliant selection of 24 transcriptions from the 150 or so that Jascha Heifetz created from all corners of the repertoire. From Stephen Foster through to Khachaturian a wide array of styles is given the gold plated Heifetz treatment. 6 of the tracks are arrangements of Gershwin rounding off the wide range on offer.
